A logo is the face of your company it is what people remember your brand by. Having a memorable logo is becoming increasingly important in today's crowded marketplace. It will pay dividends just on the fact that people will remember you. Consumers like to associate with brands because it makes them feel like they are part of something, no one likes generic unless they are getting it for very cheap.

Hiring a professional to design your logo is one of the best decisions you can make for your company early on when you are focusing most of your efforts and budget on gaining new customers. A professional designer will not just randomly draw up a shape that represents your industry they will they will spend days in the process of interviewing you to find out your personality, interests and also research your industry. They will find out what type of logo would best fit your particular business identity and then start the process of finding relevant words, colors, shapes and images that work. Then starts the actual creation of the logo implementing your business name using a customized typeface that will go well with the selected style of logo. There are three types of logos.Iconic/Symbolic Logotype/Wordmark Combination MarksThe first type of logo are emblems that use imagery that convey a literal or abstract representation of your company. Symbols are less direct than straight text, leaving room for broader interpretation of what the organization represents. In order for a symbol to be a truly effective logo it should be instantaneously recognizable, memorable, clear when reproduced in small sizes, illustrative in nature and not have too many elements. Usually just one thing that stands out in an emblem type logo is enough to commit it to the memory of its viewer. The second type of logo, the logotype which is also known in the design industry as a "word mark" uses a custom styled type face or type font. Depending on the impression that you want to gain from your intended audience you could use a different style of font.

Script fonts are formal and refined. Thick fonts are strong and powerful, and slanted fonts show movement and action. Sometimes images are integrated into a logotype to create a great visual effect but you want to be careful so that the logo remains legible, even when reduced to a very small size. The third type is the combination mark. Combination marks combine both the symbolic and logotype. This is very powerful as you can provide text that is supplemental to telling your message to the viewer. There are integrated combination marks where the text is inside of the symbol and standalone combination marks where the icon is separate from the text.As you can see there is a lot already to think about when creating your logo. A professional designer that has done this many times is key to your business success.
